Therapy Fees & Insurance
Clear pricing, no surprises. You can pay privately, use your out-of-network benefits, or use an in-network plan. Sessions are held online for clients anywhere in California.

The first step is always a free 15-minute phone consultation to see if we're a good fit. Immigration mental health evaluations are priced separately: they start at $950, with a flat fee quoted after your consultation based on the type of evaluation. See immigration evaluation fees for what's included.
Using Out-of-Network Benefits
If your plan isn't one I'm in-network with, you may still be able to use your out-of-network benefits. Many PPO plans reimburse part of the cost of out-of-network therapy once your deductible is met.
Here's how it works: you pay for each session, I give you a superbill (a detailed receipt with everything your insurer needs), and you submit it for reimbursement. Your insurer then pays you back directly based on your plan's out-of-network benefits.
Some clients choose to pay privately even when they have coverage. It means no insurance claims, no plan-imposed session limits, and the freedom to choose a specialist, whether that's EMDR therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, or culturally responsive care for Asian Americans.
Questions to Ask Your Insurer
Call the member services number on your insurance card and ask:
- Do I have out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health care?
- Do those benefits cover telehealth sessions?
- What is my out-of-network deductible, and how much of it have I met?
- What percentage of the allowed amount is reimbursed after the deductible?
- Is pre-authorization required, and how do I submit a superbill?
In-Network Plans
I'm in-network with the following plans. Your copay or coinsurance depends on your plan.

Good Faith Estimate
Under the No Surprises Act, if you aren't using insurance you have the right to a written Good Faith Estimate of expected costs before your first session. Learn more at cms.gov/nosurprises.
Questions About Fees & Insurance
Cost, insurance, and out-of-network reimbursement
Individual, child, and EMDR sessions are $175; couples and family sessions are $200 (50 minutes). Your first step is a free 15-minute consultation.
I'm in-network with Aetna, Anthem Blue Cross, Blue Shield of California, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna / Evernorth. If you have a different plan, you can pay privately and may be able to use your out-of-network benefits.
A superbill is a detailed receipt with the information your insurance company needs: dates of service, service codes, and my license and NPI details. You pay for the session, submit the superbill to your insurer, and they reimburse you directly based on your out-of-network benefits.
Many PPO plans reimburse part of the cost of out-of-network therapy once the deductible is met; HMO and EPO plans usually don't. Every plan is different, so call the member services number on your card and ask the questions listed on this page.
Coverage for couples therapy varies widely. Some plans only cover it when one partner is being treated for a diagnosed condition, and many don't cover relationship-focused work at all. Many couples choose to pay privately so the focus stays on the relationship.
Paying privately means no insurance claims, no plan-imposed session limits, and the freedom to choose a therapist whose specialty fits what you're working on, whether that's EMDR, Emotionally Focused couples work, or culturally responsive care.
